Hemp Recipes
Make hemp milk yourself easily
Who would have thought? Hemp seeds are the ideal 'raw material' for plant-based milk alternatives. Thanks to their relatively high fat content, homemade hemp milk not only tastes mildly nutty but also becomes nicely creamy.Another advantage of hemp as an ingredient for homemade vegan milk substitute is its high content of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. And – now it gets interesting for all spontaneous people – even unpeeled hemp seeds do not need to be soaked for a long time, but can be immediately processed into delicious hemp milk. Fresh hemp milk also tastes completely different from store-bought and is significantly cheaper. This simple recipe for homemade hemp milk shows you how it's done!
INGREDIENTS
for one liter of homemade hemp milk:
100 g HANAFSAN organic hemp seeds
1 l water
5 soft dates
PREPARATION
- Grind HANAFSAN organic hemp seeds very finely in a blender
- Add 500 ml water and continue blending for about 4-5 minutes
- Add dates and blend again
- Strain the liquid through a fine cheesecloth or nut milk bag and press gently but thoroughly
- Top up the hemp milk with water to 1000 ml, pour into a clean bottle with screw cap, and shake briefly before use.
- The homemade hemp milk will keep in the refrigerator for about 3 days.
Tip: If the dates are too firm to blend, simply soak in warm water for about 10 minutes before preparation. Don't pour away the soaking water – use it to top up the hemp milk!
Another tip: Depending on how finely the hemp seed-date mixture is ground, the mass can be used for baking or cooking, for example for delicious hemp energy balls, or mixed into muesli.
