An animal collaboration – Hemp in the Vorarlberg animal shelter

Fur and skin problems are just a few examples that take away the quality of life from animals. Since our four-legged friends cannot directly communicate what they feel, it is sometimes a challenging endeavor to find the right treatment to alleviate their suffering. Therefore, HANAFSAN, in collaboration with experts and pet owners, has developed CBD oils specifically for dogs and cats and started a close and intensive partnership with the Vorarlberg Animal Protection Home in 2020.

Natural Ingredients for Dogs & Cats

In April of last year, Managing Director Dr. Daniel Feurstein, who is also a dog owner, visited the Vorarlberg Animal Protection Home in Dornbirn together with his team. The goal was to provide insight into the topic of "cannabidiol in animals" and to inform about the benefits of the natural ingredient CBD, derived from EU industrial hemp, and how dogs and cats can benefit from it.
Because the challenges of the animal shelter are significant: Many of the animals housed there are not only physically but also psychologically affected and require intensive care. It is essential to provide the animals with loving care, create a stress-free environment as much as possible, and give them the opportunity to rehabilitate. Here, the cannabinoid CBD, as well as other valuable active ingredients from organic hemp seed oil, can fully unfold their potential. Judith Kupnik, the head of the Vorarlberg Animal Protection Home, who had already read quite a bit about the application of CBD in animals, welcomed the use of natural ingredients for her charges. The other animal caregivers were also convinced of the idea, and nothing stood in the way of a testing phase. The result was a complete success: No negative effects or side effects were observed in any of the animals; on the contrary. The animals reacted very positively to the HANAFSAN pet cosmetics CBD oils - thus, a first step was taken.

Regular Use of 3% and 10% CBD Oil

Encouraged by the positive feedback, our collaboration with the animal shelter moved directly into the next round. Various applications of CBD oils for the four-legged friends are now a fixed part of the work of the animal caregivers: “We regularly use the 3% and 10% CBD oils from HANAFSAN. We have already observed numerous positive changes in our dogs and cats after a very short time. Above all, an external improvement was immediately noticeable. For example, shiny fur and denser hair growth.”, emphasizes Marco Milohnic, head of animal care at the Vorarlberg Animal Protection Home. HANAFSAN Managing Director Dr. Feurstein is also pleased: “Receiving such feedback is, of course, a complete success and encourages us to work more in the veterinary field in the future. The exchange with the Vorarlberg Animal Protection Home and the animal caregivers should be further intensified in the future. Veterinarians, dog trainers, and pet owners should also be more involved. Information from experts firsthand is very important to us”
