Simply Animal Cooperation – Animal Protection Meets CBD Application
“Simple Animal Welfare” – the goal of the non-profit animal welfare association founded in Germany was clear from the beginning: to help street dogs where the need is greatest – a vision that demands a lot of diligence and commitment from everyone involved. The care of the numerous, often severely mentally and physically impaired four-legged friends is not always easy. However, recent progress has been made with the cosmetic application of cannabidiol (CBD), which is not only promising but also conveys a completely new and, above all, promising image of the cultural plant hemp to the organization.
Einfach Tierschutz e.V.: Help for Stray Dogs in Need
Einfach Tierschutz e.V. is the owner and operator of two large animal shelters in Braila, Romania, because the need surrounding various four-legged friends is incredibly high, especially in Eastern Europe. In the so-called "Phoenix Shelter," approximately 400 dogs and now also some cats are cared for, medically treated, and socialized daily on an area of 10,000m². Since spring 2020, a second shelter specifically for puppies has been added. The central office is located in Frechen, near Cologne, from where all association activities are coordinated. Particularly noteworthy: Einfach Tierschutz e.V. has been an approved transport company for some time, allowing dogs and cats to be transported from Romania to their future families in Germany, Austria, or Switzerland in their own specially equipped vehicles. The animal protectors really do everything to improve the lives of the animals in all respects. Unfortunately, the root of the problem is still not solved: "From our perspective, the biggest problems stem from the mass breeding of purebred dogs, while thousands of dogs in local and foreign shelters are waiting for a loving home. In particular, illegal breeding and the illegal transportation of puppies from abroad, which are then sold cheaply here through various online portals by professional traffickers posing as private individuals, is a significant thorn in our side," condemns Sarah Goetschel from Einfach Tierschutz e.V. the trade in four-legged friends.

First Experiences with CBD in Dogs and Cats
Those animals that find their way to the shelters are often burdened not only physically but also mentally by their often very sad history. When contact was established between the association and HANAFSAN a few weeks ago, there were extensive discussions about the use of CBD care products for animals. Shortly thereafter, they agreed on common areas of application and gathered initial positive experiences: "After a somewhat bumpy start, we can now observe initial positive changes. We can now say that our animals respond well to CBD, particularly for fur or skin problems. Moreover, some dogs appeared less stiff and showed more willingness to move - but this still needs to be further evaluated. We attribute these changes quite clearly to the CBD oils that are applied externally. Our tip: Observe the animals closely and then adjust the specific dosage based on the reactions of the four-legged friends. Otherwise, also consult with the veterinarian. At the end of the day, one will get a really solid and, above all, helpful picture sooner or later, and when the furry noses feel better, it makes us all the more happy," describes Sarah Goetschel the initial experiences with the HANAFSAN CBD oils for animals. Further observations and analyses are planned for the coming months. The clear goal is to be able to use the active ingredient CBD even more effectively and to find out in what way the unproblematic cannabinoid can individually support the four-legged friends.
