The numerous visitors enjoyed carefree hours in sunny autumn weather with delicious onion cake and fresh Suser, coffee, and fine cake. The guided tours offered a good insight into the diverse tasks of this important facility, while the children were eagerly engaged in solving quiz questions about the animal shelter and its residents.

A Safe Temporary Home

Whether dogs, cats, or rabbits – there is a safe place here for four-legged friends in need. Until they find a new home, the full-time staff, with the active support of the volunteer helpers, lovingly take care of their well-being. This includes not only species-appropriate housing, high-quality food, and good veterinary care. Equally important is the carefree playing and frolicking in the play fields and outdoor enclosures, as well as the special attention that comes with simply having time to cuddle! Private pets are also temporarily housed when their owners are traveling, and needy wild animals are referred to a hedgehog or wild bird station, where they are expertly cared for. The staff is also happy to assist anyone with helpful advice regarding their beloved four-legged friends.

A Day at the Animal Shelter

There is quite a lot to do in the daily routine of the animal shelter! It starts at seven in the morning when the dogs greet the new day in the play fields and the cats enjoy their first meal. Throughout the morning, all animals need to be fed, thorough cleaning has to be done in the two dog accommodations and in the cat and small animal house, as well as trips to the veterinarian. The dogs have a second play round, and in between, the staff takes time with combs and brushes for grooming their four-legged friends, which is always accompanied by the much-desired petting. In the afternoon, it's visiting time. New animals are taken in, boarding animals are brought or picked up, and potential pet owners receive comprehensive advice, as it is very important to everyone that their protégés find a loving and suitable new home. After the evening feeding and cleaning up, the dogs get to romp around one more time before the night rest gradually begins around 9 PM.

Support Welcome

All of this costs money and must be financed through donations and the contributions of about 500 members of the Animal Welfare Association of Constance and Surroundings e. V., which is always a challenge, especially in these special times! We from HANAFSAN were also present with a stand and our high-quality and certified CBD oils for animals at the "Open House" event. We were happy to inform how much valuable the hemp plant holds not only for us humans but also for our beloved four-legged friends and donated some of our CBD oils for animals to the animal shelter. And we also look forward to welcoming everyone who cares about the well-being of their animals at our Constance Hanafsan store at Neugasse 17!
